Who am I?

My name is Melody. I have Rapid Cycling Bipolar with OCD and Anxiety. I've struggled with alcohol abuse as well.
I'm also a 37 year old mother of 4 and a wife to my husband of 15 years.
I have struggled with mental health issues since I was 13 but I wasn't diagnosed with bipolar until I was 16. Unfortunately I was not properly medicated until after my last child. It was then that we realized that I was resistant to medication and we had to explore the option of ECT, Electro Convulsive Therapy. We have had a lot of success with it and after years of hard work I am finally at the most stable point mentally that I have ever been in my life!
*I am not a medical professional. I am only offering advice and knowledge as to what worked for me.

Why Read My Story?

I want to share my story and bring awareness to the illness of Bipolar. It has affected me deeply, hurt me terribly and allowed me to grow exponentially. I want to talk about the dark scary thoughts. The nagging voice in your heads and the fantastic freedom of being manic. I want to share stories with others that aren't glorified or edited but explain what it is really like to struggle with this ilness. But lastly and most importantly I want to give others hope, I once didn't even have hope. I thought there was no cure but I want you to come along with me on this journey to peace and happiness. I want us to talk freely about this illness without being judged and I hope through this we can find hope in others.
